MADDIE & FELIX SICILY WEDDING

For long, Sicily has wrongly been thought as a less gorgeous part of Italy and destination Sicily weddings were less heard of. Like many couples, upon starting their venue search, Maddie and Felix were also drown to more renown areas but were open to explore different options.

When we looked at Sicily neither could remain indifferent towards the originality and beauty of Tonnara di Scopello, the oldest tuna-fishery in Sicily, nowadays sought-after Hotel and Sicily wedding venue.

The Tonnara features direct access to the crystalline sea, has a private beach and several areas which can be used to host a fun Sicily wedding weekend.

As the invites anticipated this Sicily wedding was going to be a colourful one!

To keep the wedding venue a secret until the big day, Madeline and Felix decided to host their welcome event at a nearby Tour overlooking the Scopello’s stacks and the sea. A proper Sicily market styled dinner, with hand painted stalls in the traditional Sicilian intense colours were set up offering guests the most traditional delicacies.

The wedding day had a very different vibe from the first night and, whilst we stayed true to the style of the venue and chose a rustic set up, we added vibrant colours for a lively set up.

For the Jewish ceremony we designed a grand chuppah with greenery and vivid coloured flowers in fucsia and orange, to stand out against the blue of the sea which was in the backdrop.

The dinner reception was set up in the Tonnara courtyard with long imperial tables decorated with stone and terracotta vases of different sizes, filled with colourful, flowers and fruits, blue and white hand painted baseplates and bespoke designed tiles which we used as place cards holders and would be a gift for guests to take away.

Among all the perks of this Sicily wedding venue is the fact that the venue, once exclusively hired, has no curfew. The party kicked off on the venue terrace and ended up in the private beach with an early morning dip in the warm July sea.
