Planning a destination wedding in Sicily is a dream come true for many couples. The enchanting island with its sun-kissed landscapes, historic architecture, and mouth-watering cuisine offers a perfect setting for a memorable celebration. Among the many beautiful wedding locations in Sicily, Ortigia, with its narrow streets, baroque palaces, and ancient ruins offer a romantic backdrop for a welcome dinner event that sets the tone for your Italian wedding.
Lily and James's welcome dinner location of choice was a panoramic terrace overlooking the Cathedral of Ortigia. A stunning view over one of the most beautiful squares of Ortigia was not all the event had to offer. Traditional dishes, seasonal ingredients, and local wines to provide the guests with an authentic gastronomic experience.
When searching for wedding venues for their destination wedding, Lily and James were open to venues across the whole of Italy, but the enchanting Borgo del Carato located in the Sicilian countryside stole their hearts. They envisioned a colourful Italian wedding that exuded fun while embracing the rustic charm of Sicily. Lily and James had total faith in the design process and trusted us completely to bring that vision to life!
For this destination wedding in Sicily, effortless style with an earthy, eclectic touch inspired every bespoke detail of the design. From custom tablecloths to uniquely crafted lampshades and vases, we infused a vintage aesthetic that truly reflected Lily and James’s kind and fun-loving spirit.
The ceremony unfolded in front of the main entrance, embellished with floral arrangements bursting with vibrant colors. Bespoke columns flanked the couple, each adorned with unique patterns creating a whimsical and eclectic vibe.
Following the vows, guests were treated to an aperitif styled as a lively food market. Sicily is rich in traditions so incorporating traditional Sicilian stalls showcasing an array of local delicacies was a must to celebrate the rich culinary heritage of the region. For dinner, the courtyard, or baglio, of the venue was transformed into a unique dining space filled with custom-made details. Hand-made lampshades and hand-painted vases were designed specifically for the wedding and sourced locally whilst tablecloths were ordered from India, the place of origins of the bride.
This wedding in Sicily was a beautiful tapestry of love, culture and creativity, perfectly woven together in the heart of a stunning Italian landscape.
