But as a wedding planner, I know that the true soul of a Tuscan wedding isn’t just found in the perfect weather—it’s found in the atmosphere we create when the unexpected happens.

Lauren and Robert's wedding at the breath-taking Borgo di Vignamaggio was the perfect embodiment of what I call "Tuscan Sophistication": a blend of high elegance and rustic simplicity, where every detail felt intentional, even when we had to pivot.

The Welcome: A "Mercato" Night with a Twist
Turning a Rainy Forecast into a Tuscan Dream

The festivities began with a Welcome Dinner designed to mimic a traditional Italian market. We wanted the guests to feel like they had stepped into a local village festival. The plan was an alfresco feast, but the Tuscan clouds had other ideas.

With heavy rain arriving just hours before the event, we transitioned the setup inside the Borgo’s historic cellars. However, I am a firm believer that "Plan B" should never feel like a compromise. To maintain the original vision, we kept a single, impeccably styled long table outside. It stood as a beautiful installation—a promise of the beauty to come—while guests stayed cozy and dry inside.

The heart of the evening was the live pizza station. To elevate the casual feel, we served artisanal pizzas in personalized pizza boxes featuring a custom monogram. It was the perfect "Instagrammable" moment that made a simple meal feel like a luxury experience.

Just as the first pizzas were being served, the clouds broke. The sun burst through the mist, illuminating the wet vines of Chianti and gifting us a spectacular double rainbow. It was a reminder to every future bride: sometimes the rain is just a prelude to the most magical light you will ever see.

The Wedding Day: Timelessness Overlooking the Hills

For the wedding day, we embraced the "Simplicity of Tuscany." Borgo di Vignamaggio is so architecturally stunning that our goal was to enhance, not distract.

The ceremony was held on the terrace, with the rolling Chianti hills providing a panoramic backdrop that looked like a Renaissance painting. We opted for organic white floral arrangement which decorated the structure already onsite.

One of my favorite elements of this wedding was the reception layout. We chose to set up the dinner in the Main Piazza with the tables arranged around the dancefloor to ensured the energy never dissipated. By placing the dance floor at the heart of the dinner, guests felt immersed in the celebration from the very first toast. There was no "separation" between the meal and the party.

As the sun set and the candles flickered, the dinner naturally evolved into a dance party. The proximity of the tables to the music kept even the guests who preferred to stay seated feeling like they were in the middle of the action.

While the dinner was an elegant affair of fine linens and crystal, the couple wanted to end the night with a high-octane celebration. We moved the party into the Borgo’s private disco.
This vaulted stone space was transformed with modern lighting, creating a "secret club" vibe that allowed guests to party into the early hours. It was the ultimate way to honor the history of the venue while celebrating the modern love story of our couple.
